Google Slides
Slide
Put a Google Slides deck on the big screen. If your team already keeps announcements, welcome messages or weekly numbers in Slides, that deck is a complete signage playlist — no rebuilding, and anyone who can edit a presentation can change what the devices show.
What you can do
- Display a deck – Show any published presentation on your devices
- Advances itself – Set the seconds per slide in the published URL
- Loops forever – The deck restarts on its own at the end
- Anyone can update it – Edits reach the device without touching Displayful
Set it up
Google Slides is displayed using Displayful's built-in Website slide — there's nothing to connect.
Publish the deck
- In Google Slides, go to File → Share → Publish to web.
- Switch to the Embed tab. Not the Link tab — see the warning below.
- Choose how often the slides should advance — three or five seconds suits most screens.
- Tick Start slideshow as soon as the player loads and Restart the slideshow after the last slide.
- Click Publish, then copy the
srcURL out of the<iframe>snippet — Displayful needs the URL on its own, not the whole tag.
The Link tab gives you a URL that will not work. The dialog opens on Link, which produces a
/pub address — and Google sends X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN on those, so the slide stays blank. Only the /embed address from the Embed tab can be displayed. The two look nearly identical, so it's an easy mistake to make.
The URL carries the playback settings in its query string:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/<id>/embed?start=true&loop=true&delayms=5000&rm=minimal
start=true– begin presenting as soon as the device loads it, and advance on its ownloop=true– restart after the last slide, so the deck runs all daydelayms=5000– five seconds per slide; edit this number directly to retime the deckrm=minimal– add this by hand. The publish dialog won't include it. It's what removes the bottom bar — the slide counter and the next/previous arrows — along with the Google branding, so the deck fills the screen cleanly
Show a single slide instead of the whole deck
Useful when one deck holds content for several devices: point each device at its own slide.
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/<id>/embed?start=false&slide=id.p3&rm=minimal
slide=id.p3– which slide to open on. To find the id, open the deck in Google Slides and click the slide: the editor address bar ends with#slide=id.p3(orid.g…for some decks). Use that value verbatimstart=false– don't begin playing, so the slide stays put instead of advancing off
Leave loop and delayms off entirely here — they only apply while the deck is playing.
Add it as a slide
- In your slideshow, click Add slide → Website.
- Paste the published URL.
- Save.
Mind the two timers. The deck advances itself while Displayful is also rotating slides, so set the slide's duration to at least the length of the whole deck — slides ×
delayms — or the device will move on part-way through. If the deck is the only thing on that device, give it a long duration and let it loop.
A published deck is readable by anyone with the link, with no sign-in. Google also caches published presentations for a few minutes, so edits reach the device shortly after you make them rather than instantly.
