Metabase

Slide

Put Metabase dashboards on the big screen so the numbers your team already trusts stay visible all day.

What you can do

  • Display dashboards – Show any Metabase dashboard on your devices
  • Dark mode built in – Metabase ships a night theme that suits a wall-mounted TV
  • Auto refresh – Set how often the dashboard reloads, straight from the URL
  • Multiple dashboards – Put different dashboards on different slides

Set it up

Metabase dashboards are displayed using Displayful's built-in Website slide — there's nothing to connect.

Enable public sharing

  1. In Metabase, go to Settings → Admin settings → Public sharing.
  2. Turn Enable public sharing on. This is an admin-only setting.

Create a public link

  1. Open the dashboard you want to display.
  2. Click the sharing icon and choose Create a public link.
  3. Copy the URL.
A public link is viewable by anyone who has it, with no sign-in. Only use it for dashboards you're comfortable having outside Metabase, and revoke the link if a device is ever decommissioned.

Tune it for a TV

Metabase reads appearance settings from the URL fragment. Append them to the public link before pasting it in:

https://metabase.example.com/public/dashboard/<uuid>#theme=night&refresh=60&titled=false&bordered=false
  • theme=night – dark mode, easier on a wall-mounted screen
  • refresh=60 – reload the results every 60 seconds
  • titled=false and bordered=false – drop the chrome so the charts fill the screen
  • locale=da – render the dashboard in Danish

Add it as a slide

  1. In your slideshow, click Add slide → Website.
  2. Paste the public link, including the # parameters.
  3. Save. The dashboard will render live on your devices.
Running Metabase yourself? The device loads the dashboard directly, so it needs to reach your Metabase host. A self-hosted instance behind a VPN or on an internal network won't render unless the device is on that same network.
