Google Sheets

Slide

Put a Google Sheet on the big screen. Whatever your team already tracks in a spreadsheet — targets, rotas, stock, weekly numbers — can go straight on the wall without rebuilding it anywhere else.

What you can do

  • Display a sheet – Show a whole spreadsheet, a single tab, or one cell range
  • Display a chart – Publish a chart on its own for something that actually reads well from across the room
  • Stays current – Turn on auto-republish and the device follows your edits
  • No account needed on the device – It loads a public link, so there’s nothing to sign in to

Set it up

Google Sheets is displayed using Displayful's built-in Website slide — there's nothing to connect.

Publish the sheet

  1. In Google Sheets, go to File → Share → Publish to web.
  2. Choose the entire document or a single tab.
  3. Tick Automatically republish when changes are made so the device follows your edits.
  4. Click Publish and copy the link.

Tune it for a TV

Append these to the published URL to strip the spreadsheet chrome:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/<id>/pubhtml?gid=0&single=true&widget=false&headers=false
  • single=true and gid=0 – show one tab instead of the whole workbook
  • widget=false – hide the sheet tab bar along the bottom
  • headers=false – hide the A/B/C column and row headers

Better: publish a chart instead

A grid of numbers is hard to read from across a room. In the publish dialog you can select an individual chart rather than a sheet, which gives you a URL like:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/<id>/pubchart?oid=<chart-id>&format=interactive

That fills the screen properly and is almost always the better choice for a wall-mounted display.

Add it as a slide

  1. In your slideshow, click Add slide → Website.
  2. Paste the published URL.
  3. Save. The sheet will render on your devices.
Two things to know. A published sheet is readable by anyone with the link, with no sign-in — don't publish anything you wouldn't email outside the company. And Google caches published sheets for around five minutes, so edits reach the device shortly after you make them rather than instantly.
